A Cafe with a Cause: HelpAWS Puppy Cafe Launches in St Lucia to Encourage Adoptions

A new café with a very special purpose has opened on Anse Mamin Beach. Jade Mountain

& Anse Chastanet have joined forces with HelpAWS to bring the new Puppy Café to life, creating a place where guests and visitors can enjoy a coffee, meet some of Saint Lucia’s rescue puppies - and perhaps even find a new member of the family.

The partnership also has a special family connection. HelpAWS was founded by Charlene Troubetzkoy, daughter-in-law of Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet owner Karolin Troubetzkoy, and has grown into an important animal welfare organisation rescuing, rehabilitating and finding homes for stray and abandoned animals in Saint Lucia. While there is a family connection, the resorts’ support for the Puppy Café goes well beyond that relationship. Its mission is simple – to improve animal welfare, encourage responsible adoption and create positive connections between visitors and the local community. These are values that Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet have championed for many years.

The HelpAWS Puppy Café offers guests and visitors a chance to enjoy coffee, sandwiches, smoothies and desserts while spending time with rescue puppies, and perhaps falling in love with one enough to give it a forever home. All of the puppies are part of the HelpAWS rescue programme and are available for adoption. A percentage of every purchase supports HelpAWS and its work rescuing, treating, feeding, and rehoming animals from Saint Lucia.

The Troubetzkoy family of Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet helped bring this idea to life by providing the location for the cafe, supporting its construction and dedicating members of the hotel team to assist with its operation.Karolin Troubetzkoy, owner of Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet, said: “There is, of course, a very special family connection for me because HelpAWS was founded by my daughter-in-law Charlene.
